The Bluffton College men's soccer team dropped two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches last week, which dropped them to 1-3 in the conference and 3-12 overall. The Beavers were beaten 1-0 in a hard fought game Wednesday, October 16 at Defiance and again on Saturday the 19th at Manchester 6-1 against the Spartans.

On Wednesday, the Beavers were able to hold the Yellow Jackets scoreless until 20:34 left in the game when Defiance put the lone goal of the game on the board. The Beaver defensive effort was led by junior goalkeeper Derek Stemen who had nine saves against 15 shots. 

On Saturday, Bluffton found themselves down 3-0 before scoring their first goal to make the score 3-1, but they were unable to muster anymore offense while the Spartans added three more goals to win 6-1. Senior Andrew Hornblower scored his team leading sixth goal and was assisted by sophomore Caspar Agyeman-Duah, his first of the season.

On the season Bluffton is led by Hornblower in scoring with 13 points on six goals and one assist. He is followed by John Lindow who has nine points on four goals and one assist and Diego Rodriguez with two goals and four assists. Stemen leads the team with 140 saves on 260 shots.

The Beavers have three games left, two of which are HCAC matches. Their next match is at home on the 23rd against non-conference foe Taylor University/Ft. Wayne at 4 p.m. They will then finish out their HCAC schedule at Anderson University at 3 p.m. on the 31st and then back home on November 2nd against Hanover College at 1 p.m.
