The Bluffton College men's soccer team saw their season come to an end last week with two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference losses. The Beavers close out the 2002 campaign with a 4-14 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the conference. 

In Thursday's game Bluffton went into overtime tied 1-1 but was unable to hold off Anderson as they lost 2-1 on the road. On Saturday the Beavers could muster just one goal and gave up four to drop their final home game of the season 4-1.

Against Anderson, senior Andrew Hornblower scored the Beavers lone goal off a double assist from junior Diego Rodriguez and sophomore Mike Moore. Junior Derek Stemen contributed 16 saves in the loss.

Against Hanover, Rodriguez scored unassisted on a corner kick that he sailed over the goalkeeper's head. Stemen again led the Beavers on defense with 10 more saves moving his season total to 168 saves.

Hornblower finished the season as Bluffton's top scorer with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. He was closely followed by sophomore Caspar Agyeman-Duah who had five goals and two assists to give him 12 points on the season. Leading the Beavers in assists was Rodriguez who tallied five and also chipped in 3 goals for 11 points. Also scoring for the Beavers were juniors John Lindow with four goals one assist and Esuga Abaya with three goals and three assists, for nine points apiece. 

The Beavers lose four players from this season's squad but will return 17 veterans who will be looking to improve on this years' record in 2003.
