Rose Hulman Sneaks away with 1-0 victory

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team put up a valiant effort against a talented Rose-Hulman soccer team but the Engineers made their lone first half score hold up for a 1-0 victory over the home team. With the loss, the Beavers fell to 3-11 and 2-5 in the Heartland Conference while Rose improved to 12-3, 4-2 HCAC.

DAVID MCILWAINE netted the game's only goal when he took a pass from ERIC HOILANDand drove it into the back of the net in the 17th minute. Although both teams had chances on goal, the Engineers held on for a slim 1-0 win on Saturday, October 21 in front of a large Bluffton contingent.

The Engineers finished with eight shots on goal while the Beavers were close behind with seven. Rose took 10 corner kicks to only five for Bluffton. The Beavers were whistled for only 10 fouls while the Engineers racked up 17 infractions.

JUSTIN ROHRER (Millersburg/West Holmes) put three shots on goal to lead the Beavers. Senior goalkeeper RYAN THOMAS (Jamestown/Greenview) picked up seven saves in the contest.

Bluffton returns to action on Wednesday, October 21, when it hosts Cincinnati Christian at 4 p.m.
