Three Beavers named All-HCAC for 2006

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the recipients of All-HCAC honors for the 2006 season. Three Bluffton University men's soccer players were awarded for their outstanding play this year. Sophomore midfielder NATE FLATH(Wadsworth/Wadsworth) was named to the first team while seniors JUSTIN ROHRER(Millersburg/West Holmes) and RYAN THOMAS (Jamestown/Greenview) were included on the second team as voted by the HCAC men's soccer coaches.
In just his second year at Bluffton, Flath was named first team All-HCAC after leading the Beavers with nine goals and 21 total points. He earned Player of the Week honors in the conference following his hat trick in Bluffton's 4-3 upset win against Manchester. Flath is already tied for eighth all-time at Bluffton with 15 career goals despite having played only two collegiate seasons. He finished the season with three assists and converted on three penalty kicks while firing 53 shots for the year.  
  Senior forward Justin Rohrer was named second team All-HCAC for 2006 after knocking in seven goals in a season for the second time in his career. The Beavers had their second straight Player of the Week in the HCAC when Rohrer netted a hat trick during the first 20 minutes of Bluffton's 5-0 shutout of Taylor Ft. Wayne. Rohrer took 41 shots and converted two game-winning goals for the Beavers in his final season. His 21 career goals leaves him in a tie for fourth place on the all-time list at Bluffton University.

Bluffton's starting goalkeeper for the last four years, Ryan Thomas, was also named to the second team All-HCAC for his efforts on the field in 2006. Thomas finished with over 90 saves for the fourth consecutive season, tallying 91 after three consecutive years with 93 saves. He picked up two shutouts giving him eight for his career. In goal, Thomas fashioned a career .691 save percentage to go along with his 2.43 goals against average.

 

Bluffton finished the season with a 4-12 overall record, including a 3-5 mark in the HCAC. Full statistics and information on the 2006 men's soccer season are available online
