December 8, 2006

Bluffton University men's soccer standout NATE FLATH (Wadsworth/Wadsworth), a sophomore midfielder, was recently named All-Great Lakes region by D3Kicks.com. Flath joined BRIAN WOODS (Manchester) and RYAN WOOD (Transylvania) as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference placed three players on the second team. Rose Hulman's YAW ANING, a senior defender and conference Player of the Year, was the lone first team honoree from the HCAC. MATT KARAFFA (Transylvania), TYLER HUSSEY (Anderson), DAVID MCILWAINE (Rose-Hulman) and PARKER SWANSON (Manchester), all from the Heartland Conference, were named to the third team All-Great Lakes region.

In just his second year at Bluffton, Flath was named first team All-HCAC after leading the Beavers with nine goals and 21 total points. He earned Player of the Week honors in the conference following his hat trick in Bluffton's 4-3 upset win against Manchester. Flath is already tied for eighth all-time at Bluffton with 15 career goals despite having played only two collegiate seasons. He finished the season with three assists and converted on three penalty kicks while firing 53 shots for the year.

Bluffton finished the season with a 4-12 record overall, including a 3-5 mark in the HCAC. Full statistics and information on the 2006 men's soccer season are available online
