TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team found itself on the wrong end of an 8-1 shellacking at the hands of a Rose-Hulman squad that made good on half of its 16 shots in the match. RHIT improved to 10-6-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference while Bluffton fell to 3-11-1 and 1-5 in the HCAC.

Less than two minutes into the match, RHYS EVANS headed a pass from NICK RACE into the back of the net for his sixth goal of the year and an early 1-0 lead.

Engineer standout MATT TROWBRIDGE made the Beavers pay with two penalty kicks in a four-minute span to give Rose a 3-0 lead in minute 15.

Four minutes later, JOE SALISBURY used a KEEGAN GUMBS assist to score his first goal of the season while putting the Engineers up by a 4-0 count before the midway point of period one.

Freshman JACOB GRAHAM (Gomer/Elida) got the Beavers on the scoreboard at the 36:29 mark of the first half as Rose-Hulman used its substitutions liberally after opening up a four-goal edge.

ERIC MYERS converted with time wind down in the opening half as Rose took a commanding 5-1 lead into halftime.

TREVOR MILLER sandwiched a pair of goals around a second Rhys Evans score in the first six minutes of the second half before the Engineers emptied their bench in an 8-1 victory over the Beavers.

The Engineers took only 16 shots in the match, but 10 were on target with eight of those finding the back of the net. Bluffton mustered 10 attempts, placing two on frame. Rose forced eight corner kicks, one more than the Beavers who were whistled for 12 fouls, one less than the home team.

MICAH BOEHR (Bluffton/Bluffton) BRANDON KINDELL, (Kenton/Kenton) and Graham led the Beavers with two shots each.

The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Oct, 24, when they welcome Anderson University to Bluffton. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
