Bluffton men play to scoreless tie at Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team continued the trend at Rochester on Saturday, Sept. 13, when the Beavers played to a 0-0 tie four hours after the women completed a 3-3 contest with the Warriors. With the tie, Bluffton stands at 2-1-1 on the season.

Bluffton fired 26 shots for the contest, including 10 on target, while Rochester managed just eight shots (six on goal). It was a foul-marred contest as Bluffton was whistled for 23 infractions compared to 17 on the home team. Five yellow cards were awarded, with three of those called on the visitors. The Beavers forced eight corner kicks and Rochester finished with five for the match.

Freshman JUSTIN RYERSON (Perrysburg/Perrysburg) and junior DERRICK SCOVANNER(Loveland/Cincinnati Hills) paced the Beavers with six shots each. Senior NATE FLATH(Wadsworth/Wadsworth) added four shots and sophomore BRIAN GOOD (Elida/Elida) pitched his first shutout of the season in improving to 2-1-1.

The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, when they host Shawnee State. The contest is slated to start at 5 p.m.
