Beavers drop to 1-1 in the HCAC with 1-0 loss to Ravens

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team was defeated by HCAC rival Anderson, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008. Bluffton fell to 4-5-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Anderson improved to 6-7 and remained undefeated in the HCAC with a spotless 3-0 mark.

The game was still scoreless until the 76th minute when DAVID BRISCOE scored from a cross, thanks to assists from PAUL HILL and STEPHEN GIRT, giving the Ravens the 1-0 shutout victory.

NATE FLATH (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) paced the Beavers with four shots, including two on target. DAN SAVILLE (Toledo/Central Catholic) picked up five saves in his third start for Bluffton.

Anderson took 14 shots while limiting Bluffton to only seven. The Beavers forced five corner kicks, compared to only two for the Ravens. Bluffton and Anderson were whistled for 13 and 15 infractions, respectively.

Bluffton returns to action on Monday, October 6, when the Beavers host Pikeville College. The contest is slated to start at 3 p.m.
