September 14, 2010

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team struggled to find the net as Cincinnati Christian improved to 3-3 on the season with a 4-1 victory on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010. The Beavers slipped to 2-2 on the year after a pair of wins to start the season.

CCU came out firing, putting up 10 shots in the first period while taking a 2-1 lead at the break. ANDREW WILBURN and CALEB CHESNUT both posted tallies for the Eagles before a NOLAN PHELPS (Monroe/Lemon-Monroe) penalty kick midway through the period pulled the visitors within one.

Chesnut's second goal in minute 66 made the score 3-1 and JAKE SENGER converted with less than three minutes to play for the final 4-1 count. Junior DAN SAVILLE (Toledo/Central Catholic) and BRIAN GOOD (Elida) split time between the posts, picking up and four and five saves, respectively, while allowing two goals apiece.

ANDREW JOHNSON (Vienna, WV/Parkersburg) finished with four shots, while Phelps came away with Bluffton's lone score on the penalty kick. Cincinnati Christian fired 26 shots, compared to nine for the Beavers. The Eagles committed eight more fouls (20-12) and forced one more corner kick (4-3) than Bluffton.
