Sept. 3, 2011

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Benedictine University by a 3-0 count at Moody Bible College on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. It marked the second setback in as many days for the Beavers who return to Ohio with a 0-2 record. The Eagles improved to 1-1 following their victory.

Jesse Ortiz put Benedictine up 1-0 with less than six minutes remaining in the opening stanza thanks to a nice feed from Arturo Solis. Ortiz made it 2-0 in minute 65 when he found the back of the net for the second time in the match. Fabian Quiroz capped the scoring with his unassisted goal six minutes later for the final 3-0 score.

The Eagles fired six more shots than Bluffton (16-10), while forcing three more corner kicks (6-3). Benedictine was also more aggressive, racking up 17 fouls, compared to 10 by the Beavers.

Freshman Jorge Becerril (Sturgis, Mich.) collected five saves while tending the net. Sophomore Jaden August (Bluffton) paced the offense with five shots, including two on frame.

The Beavers return to the road on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when they travel to Huntington University. The contest with the Foresters is slated to start at 4 p.m.
