BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Alma College in double overtime on Friday, September 16, 2011. It marked the third double overtime setback for the Beavers in their last four matches. The Scots improved to 3-2 while Bluffton dropped to 0-6 on the season.

Alma picked up the only goal of the first period at the 12:49 mark from Dirk Roskam. The Beavers knotted the game 1-1 in the second period off a Jaden August (Bluffton) penalty kick just three minutes into the stanza. Alma found the back of the net once again at the 57:17 mark. Punching it in was Matteo Capicchioni with the assist from Roskam.

The Beavers evened up the match again when PHIL KEELER'S (Bluffton) deep lob bounded off an Alma defender's head into the goal, making the score 2-2 at the 67:04 mark. Neither team managed to find the back of the net for the rest of the period as Bluffton again found itself in overtime.

The first overtime proved to be a defensive battle as neither team was able to end the match. However, the Scots' Eric Foster slid one past the line five minutes into the second extra period, giving Alma a 3-2 victory.

Bluffton University fired 10 shots, nine on goal, while Alma pounded 27, including 14 on frame. The Scots forced nine corner kicks, while Bluffton countered with only two. The Beavers committed 18 fouls, compared to 24 by the visitors, but Bluffton was much more aggressive in the second period and first extra session.

Senior Dan Saville (Toledo/Central Catholic) recorded 10 saves in the loss. Nate Byrum (London) and August led the Beaver offense with three shots apiece. Peter Carlson () put both of his attempts on goal.

The Bluffton men will host Olivet on Saturday, September 17, at the Sears Complex. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
