Early goal send Earlham to 1-0 win over Bluffton

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College men's soccer team found the back of the net early and made it stand up as the Quakers posted a 1-0 shutout of Bluffton on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Bluffton fell to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in the Heartland Conference while Earlham improved to 2-9 and 1-1 in the HCAC.

TAMRU TAYE found COREY CAMPBELL just 2:46 into the match and the Earlham tally proved to be the only goal scored in the match. The home team finished with a 14-3 advantage in total shots, including a 5-1 margin on frame. Both teams finished with 15 fouls, but Earlham forced six more corner kicks (9-3) in the victory.

Senior keeper DAN SAVILLE (Toledo/Central Catholic) came up with four saves and NATE BYRUM (London) put his shot attempt on target.

The Beavers return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, when Bluffton welcomes Anderson University to the Sears Complex. The contest is slated to start at 2 p.m. following the women's battle with the Ravens.
