Andrews drops Bluffton 4-1 in season opener

BERRIEN SPRINGS, Michigan - The Bluffton University men's soccer team dropped its 2012 season opener at Andrews University by a 4-1 count on Friday, August 31, 2012.

A pair of Andrew Kutzner goals put the home team up 2-0 midway through the first period as Andrews University took the early lead and never looked back. Anrews added a third goal with just under 14 minutes to play before freshman Tariq DeGraffinreed (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) scored his first collegiate goal for the Beavers. Kutzner completed his hat trick with 49 ticks remaining en route to the 4-1 victory over Bluffton.

Andrews finished with a 17-10 advantage in shots, including 11-7 on frame. Both teams took three corner kicks and Bluffton was whistled for eight fouls, compared to just four for the home squad.

DeGraffinreed and Jordan Andrews (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) both took two shots for the visitors, with both of DeGraffinreed's being on frame. Freshman Jeff Yoder (Elkhart, Ind./Bethany Christian) collected five saves for the Beavers.

Bluffton returns to action with a trip to Cincinnati Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The contest is slated for 8 p.m. following the women's match with CCU.
