BLUFFTON, Ohio - On a sunny Thursday afternoon at Steinmetz Field, the Bluffton University Beavers were in a hard fought battle with the Wabash College Little Giants. The Little Giants were able to capitalize on a foul in the box against the Beavers for the lone goal of the game and take home a 1-0 victory courtesy of the penalty kick.

The first half was fairly quiet with most of play occurring in the Wabash attacking zone as the Beavers struggled to maintain possession on their half. The defense held firm and kept the match scoreless following 45 minutes of action, despite the Little Giants' 10-3 lead in the shots' department.

The second half went back and forth with scoring opportunities on both ends. However, after a red card against the Beavers for a tackle in the box, Wabash forward Ivaylo Mantchev was able to score the lone goal of the contest. The Beavers would try to muster a comeback while playing with only 10 men, but they did not have enough firepower to put one in the back of the net.

The Beavers will take the weekend off before a road matchup with the Muskingum University Muskies under the lights at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10. After a trip to Wittenberg on September 14, Bluffton will return home to Sears Complex to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, September 18 at 2 p.m. with a women's contest to follow. Come support your Beavers!
