Johnson-Evers selected to Second Team

November 14, 2013

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Conference coaches recently honored a pair of Bluffton University men's soccer players for their efforts on the field in 2013. Sophomore RYAN JOHNSON-EVERS(Muskego, Wis./Muskego) took home his second straight Second Team All-Heartland Conference honor, while junior JORDAN ANDREWS (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) was selected Honorable Mention All-HCAC.

One of just five Beavers to start all 16 matches for Bluffton this season, Ryan Johnson-Evers was an important cog in a Bluffton defense that allowed eight fewer goals this year than it did in 2012. He has started all 32 matches that Bluffton has played during his time as a Beaver. Despite playing in the back, Johnson-Evers fired four shots this year with all four on frame.

Another starter from the day he stepped on campus in 2011, Jordan Andrews earned his second consecutive All-Heartland Conference award. Andrews was an All-HCAC Second Team member a season ago. He has started all 50 contests that the Beavers have been a part of during his three years at Bluffton. Andrews put up 12 shots in 2013, just one less than his career best as a sophomore.

In conjunction with the All-HCAC selections, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference also announced the All-HCAC Sportsmanship Team for the fall of 2013. Senior DYLAN MATHEWS (Arlington) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Bluffton. This award has been developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field/court of competition.

The Bluffton University men's soccer team finished their 2013 campaign with a record of 1-15 overall and 1-8 in the Heartland Conference. Full statistics and information on the 2013 men's soccer season are available online
