Five from soccer named Academic All-Ohio

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The NCAA Division III recently announced the recipients of Academic All-Ohio honors for the 2013 season. Five Bluffton University soccer players were honored for their performance on the field and in the classroom this season.

Junior CALEB BERLON (Kettering/Fairmont) along with sophomores RYAN-JOHNSON EVERS (Muskego, Wis.) and CHRIS WAGLER(Leipsic/Pandora-Gilboa) were three of just five Heartland Conference men to be honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. Berlon and Wagler were both third team honorees, while Johnson-Evers was the lone second team honoree from the HCAC.

Senior KATIE STEENROD (Sidney) and sophomore MARISA AGUILAR(Taylor, Mich./Divine Child) were two of only five  Heartland Conference women to be honored as Academic All-Ohio recipients by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. They were both selected to the third team. All three men and Katie Steenrod were also recently named Academic All-HCAC for their efforts in the classroom.

To qualify for Academic All-Ohio honors a player must have started in 50 percent of the matches, be a sophomore or above academically and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, the player should have participated in 50 percent of the team's contests at the particular position listed and be a significant contributor to team's success.
