Grizzly goal in minute 84 sends Franklin home with victory

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fought Franklin College to the very end on Saturday, Oct. 18, but a late goal in the 84th minute by Franklin's THADDEUS BRODERICK gave the Grizzlies the 1-0 victory. Bluffton slipped to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin upped its mark to 6-5-2 and 3-1-1 in the HCAC.

Franklin had a slight edge in shots with 18 (6 on goal) to the Beavers 11 (5 on goal). The Grizzlies also forced 10 corner kicks, but failed to capitalize on any of them, to just two corners for Bluffton.

Senior CALEB BERLON (Kettering/Fairmont) and junior RYAN JOHNSON-EVERS (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led the Beaver offense with two shots apiece, one each on frame. Sophomore keeper JEFF YODER(Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) picked up five saves in the loss.

The Beavers travel to rival Defiance for a matchup with the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 3:30 p.m.
