BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior BLAKE HERSHBERGER (Canton/McKinley) and freshman TIMOTHY MURPHY (Chesterfield, Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) have been named All-Heartland Conference for their play in 2017. They were recognized when the HCAC announced its top players this season as voted on by the head coaches.

Blake Hershberger secured his first All-HCAC honor following a senior campaign in which he netted a career-high three goals. He led the Beavers with six points, connecting on two of his three penalty kicks. Hershberger started 46 of the 54 matches he played in during his time at Bluffton. He finished his career with four goals, an assist and 27 shots for nine total points.

Freshman Timothy Murphy started 14 matches in first season at Bluffton. He was named Honorable Mention All-HCAC for his work on the pitch, helping the Beavers allow 12 fewer goals in conference play than they did in 2016.

In conjunction with the All-HCAC selections, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference also announced the All-HCAC Sportsmanship Team for the fall of 2017. Senior ADAM KNOTT (Lima/Shawnee) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Bluffton. This award has been developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field/court of competition.
