Albion comes back for 3-1 win over Bluffton

ALBION, Mich. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team traveled to Albion College on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 for a 6 p.m. matchup against the Britons. The Beavers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Britons. Bluffton fell to 4-5 on the season following the loss.

Bluffton's Brandon DeCoursey (Bruceville, IN/North Knox) took a feed from fellow freshman Elijah Grieser (Wauseon/Pettisville) to secure the first tally of the match in the 32nd minute, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead going into the break.

The Britons came out and fired the equalizer shot 17 minutes into the second half. In a span of less than five minutes, Albion's Alex Sayeg netted two more shots to give the home team a 3-1 lead and ultimately the match victory.

Albion pressured the visiting team with a total of 23 shots (six on goal) compared to Bluffton's 4 (three on frame). The Britons forced all 11 corner kicks and they were whistled for seven more fouls (8-1). Freshman keeper Tanner Newport (Hamilton, VA/Loudoun Valley) walked away with four saves minding the net.

The Beavers are back in action at the Sears Athletic Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 2 when they finish up non-conference play against Finlandia University at 2 p.m. The men then kick off Heartland Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they welcome Rose-Hulman to their home pitch for a 3:30 p.m matchup following the women's contest with the Engineers.
