Beavers drop 3-0 decision at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team traveled to Franklin College on Saturday, Oct. 12, for an evening Heartland Conference matchup under the lights. The Beavers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Grizzlies. Bluffton fell to 5-8 (0-3 HCAC) while Franklin improved to 4-10 (1-2 HCAC).

In the sixth minute, Franklin's Jordan Thomas connected with the back of the net to give the Grizzlies an early 1-0 lead. Another Grizzly goal gave the home team a 2-0 lead going into the half. Three minutes into the second stanza, Franklin's Trevor Bray netted another shot to secure the Grizzlies' 3-0 shutout over the Beavers.

Logan Spath (Stow/Stow-Monroe) led the Bluffton offense with two shots, both on goal. Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) and Justin Combs (Union/Northmont) also put up two shots apiece.

Franklin fired 15 shots (eight on goal), compared to Bluffton's 11 (six on goal). The Grizzlies forced two more corner kicks (5-3) but were also whistled for eight more fouls (16-8). Beaver keepers Tanner Newport (Hamilton, VA/Loudoun Valley) and Connor Kaminicki (Northfield/Nordonia) had three and two saves, respectively.

The men are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Earlham College for a matchup against the Quakers. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Go Beavers!
