Monmouth holds off Bluffton men 1-0

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Monmouth by a 1-0 count on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. The first loss of the season dropped the Beavers to 1-1-1 overall. Monmouth improved to 2-1.

The defenses ruled until midway through the second stanza when Logan Corgan knocked it into the upper left corner of the goal for a 1-0 Monmouth lead. Bluffton tried to net the equalizer, finishing with a 15-6 advantage in total shots, but the Beavers could not get one to fall.

Bluffton forced three more corners (8-5), while Monmouth was whistled for six more fouls (10-4).

Jackson Clark (Mount Blanchard/Riverdale) paced Bluffton with five shots. Zach Johnson (Middletown) and Gabriel Rivera (Fort Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers) picked up one save apiece as they split the keeper duties on Saturday.

The Beavers are back at the Robbie Dreher Classic on Sunday, Sept. 8, when they meet up with host Wabash College at 3 p.m.
