CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Wabash College on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024. The Beavers fell to 1-2-1, while Wabash stays perfect at 4-0 on the season.
The Little Giants scored two goals in the first 19 minutes and their defense held firm on the way to a 2-0 lead at the break. Wabash ripped nine shots in the opening stanza, to just two attempts for the visitors.
Sophomore Mathias Garcia (Fort Wayne, Ind./New Haven) cut the deficit in half with his goal at the 57:54 mark, but Alfredo Campos put it on ice with his Little Giant goal 20 minutes later.
Wabash finished with a 20-6 advantage in total shots, but just 8-4 on frame. The home team forced four more corner kicks (8-4), while both teams were whistled for 10 fouls.
Garcia led the offense with two shots, both on goal. Senior Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) and freshman Sean Smith (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Western) combined for three saves.
The Bluffton men are off until next Saturday, Sept. 14, when the Beavers travel to Ohio Christian for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Circleville.
