Bluffton caps off fall semester at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University swimming and diving team battled a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference schools at Heidelberg on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024. The host Student Princes and Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets joined Bluffton for an afternoon of competition at the Tiffin YMCA.

Freshman Justin Hassranah (Cunupia, Trinidad and Tobago/Vishnu Boys Hindu College) picked up a 3rd place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25:10 and Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) followed in 5th place (27:08). Hassranah also added a 4th place showing in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:06.65 on Saturday.

On the women's side, freshman Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) nothed a pair of 3rd place finishes. She went 1:18.96 in the 100 yard breaststroke and 2:34.89 in the 200 yard IM. Junior Sydney Grisier (Bryan) and sophomore Havin Montague (Celina) chipped in with times of 2:49.39 and 3:16.61, respectively, in the 200 yard freestyle.

The Beavers were matched up against former Bluffton Head Coach Ben Rath who now leads the Student Princes. Bluffton will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, with a trip to Wooster for a tri-meet with Westminster and the host Fighting Scots at 1 p.m.
