Hassranah makes history for men's swimming

LIMA, Ohio - Bluffton University Swim and Dive hosted their final home meet of this season against ONU and OWU on Friday, Jan. 17. Both men's and women's teams fought hard and had some outstanding performances! 
 
Freshman Jami Baker (Lowell Ind./Lowell) came out undefeated and won both of her events! She also ended up with two seasonal bests in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.22) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.72). Her 50 breaststroke is 2nd all-time in the school record book!
 
Junior Sydney Grisier (Bryan) took 4th in the 1000-yard freestyle (16:25.77). She also had a wonderful performance, taking 2nd in 1-meter diving (110.65) and 4th in 1-meter optional diving (136.50). Havin Montague (Celina) did a fantastic job swimming the 50 breaststroke (52.35), 100 free (1:29.60) and 50 butterfly (55.62). 
 
Heading over to the men's side, freshman Justin Hassranah (Cunupia, Trinidad and Tobago/Vishnu Boys Hindu College) made history by being our first-ever male diver! He had an outstanding performance in the 1-meter optional diving (131.60) and now has the school record! He also raced in the 50 backstroke (30.43) and 100 backstroke (1:06.48). 
 
Freshman Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) swam the 50 breaststroke (35.31), 50 free (25.25), and 100 breaststroke (1:18.53). His time in the 100 breaststroke puts him 4th all-time in the record books! Junior Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) swam the 100 freestyle, earning a time of 1:00.62. 
 
All the swimmers had remarkable performances! Both teams head to Ashland on Friday, Jan. 24th. Go Beavers!
