ADA, Ohio - A pair of Bluffton athletes wrapped up their 2019 indoor track and field season with a short drive to Ohio Northern University for the Polar Bear Last Chance Qualifier and Multi Meet at the King Horn Center on Friday, Mar. 1 and Saturday, Mar. 2.

Freshman Brandon James (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) improved his heptathlon mark from early in the season, breaking his own school record with 4170 points, placing fifth in the event as the only freshman competing. James' school-record mark was fueled by personal bests in the long jump (6.22 meters), pole vault (3.1 meters) and 1000 meter run (3:00.94)

Junior Tori Bowen (Wapakoneta/Elida) also made the trek on Saturday, competing in the pole vault competition. Bowen placed in the second spot overall with a clearance of 3.56 meters (11 feet, 8 inches). Bowen finished the season in the 33rd spot on the NCAA Div. III National list with her 3.62 mark at the HCAC Championships, falling 0.1 meter short of qualifying for the Div. III National meet.

The Beavers will take the Spring Break week off from competition before returning for the beginning of the outdoor campaign with a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The meet will run for three days from Thursday, March 14 through Saturday, March 16.
