GENEVA, Ohio - Bluffton University senior Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) punched his ticket for the NCAA finals with a 14.42 in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Spire Academy!
His heat was the only one to go up against a strong headwind, but the all-time great battled through it, edging out Aden Spears from Wisconsin-Oshkosh by 2 thousandths of a second for the final slot in the championship run. Sears and Gist were both in the second heat and it was a photo finish when they crossed the line!
The top eight finishers on Saturday, May 24, will earn First Team All-America honors following the finals of the 110-meter hurdles at 1:50 p.m. Good luck to Desmond, who will be running his final race as a Beaver! Working to get him into prime condition this weekend were Head Coach Chris Scott and assistants Connor Gulick and Quay Janvier.
