Bluffton goes 6-2 after Rebel Spring Games

The Bluffton College softball team (6-2) participated in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee , Florida over spring break. The Beavers are off to their best start (six wins in eight games) since the early 1980's. Bluffton has posted only five wins in the Rebel Spring Games in recent years. The Beavers only two losses came to No. 8 Wartburg, 2-0 and St. Francis 10-1.

Junior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) leads the Beavers at the plate with a .500 batting average. Lange posts 8 runs scored, 12 hits, two doubles and four RBI's for the season. Junior Mandy Snider (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) bats at a .417 average with five hits, one double, one RBI and three runs scored. Sophomore Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) posts a .375 average with six hits, two doubles and three RBI's.

Betts leads the Beavers on the mound for the year with a 0.74 ERA (5-1 record). In 36.2 innings pitched she has allowed only nine hits and five runs. For the season Betts has struck out 47 batters, giving up only five base on balls. In the Beavers final game of spring break, Betts threw her first collegiate no-hitter against Milwaukee . Freshman Mikah Coffindaffer(Maineville/Homeschool) owns a 1-1 record with six strikeouts for the season in 12.1 innings pitched.
