Bluffon wins two on the road at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball team (12-4) defeated Heidelberg College 3-1 and 4-1 on April 6 in non-conference action.

Sophomore CARRIE WEISBECKER (Okeana/Ross) led the Beavers at the plate in the first game with two hits, two RBI's and one run. Junior pitcher SARAH BETTS (Bryan/Bryan) picked up the win on the mound to take her record to 7-4 on the season. Betts threw a one-hitter as she struck out 10 batters and walked two. Bluffton won the first game 3-1 as they scored one run in the top of the fourth and two runs in the sixth inning.

Senior MANDY SNIDER (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) posted two hits and an RBI in game two. Senior MICHELLE PLEIMAN (Yorkshire/Minster) went two-for-three at the plate with senior ALLISON LANGE (Archbold/Archbold) knocking in Bluffton's other RBI.

Betts (8-4) received the win on the mound as she threw a two-hit game in the nightcap. Bluffton won the second game 4-1 as the team posted eight hits in the contest.

The Beavers will be back in action on April 9 at home vs. Hanover. First pitch for the Heartland Conference doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
