Beavers split doubleheader with Huntington

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball team (15-7, 2-2 HCAC) split their doubleheader with Huntington College on April 16. The Beavers won the first game by a score of 6-3 and Huntington was able to take the second game 7-0.

Bluffton took the early lead in the bottom of the first in game one when junior MICHELLE METZGER (Lakeview/Indian Lake) was able to drive in a run to score senior MANDY SNIDER(Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta). Huntington picked up a run in the top of the second to tie the game. The Beavers fought back to earn two runs in the bottom of the fifth as senior JACKIE WELLS(Napoleon/Patrick Henry) and LANE LEEDY (Bellville/Clear Fork) posted a single RBI each. Huntington drove in two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game. Bluffton was able to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 6-3 win. 

Leading the Beavers was Mandy Snider who went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the game. Freshman TONYA DEAN (Kettering/Fairmount) picked up the victory on the mound to take her record to 5-2.

Huntington was able to take the nightcap by a score of 7-0. Junior LINDSAY MILLER (Grover Hill/Wayne Trace) and senior ALLISON LANGE (Archbold/Archbold) posted one hit each in the game. Freshman HEATHER BEIGHLE (Greenville/Arcanum) received the loss on the mound as she gave up five hits and struck out five batters.

The Beavers will be back in action at Manchester College on April 20. Start time for the HCAC doubleheader is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
