Bluffton splits doubleheader with Anderson

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball team (19-10, 6-5 HCAC) picked up one win against Anderson University on April 30. Anderson won the first game 2-1 with the Beavers taking the nightcap 4-1.

The Ravens took an early lead in the first game as they scored two runs in the top of the second inning. The Beavers tried to make a comeback as they scored one run in the top of the seventh but were unable to score anymore runs for the 2-1 final. Sophomore CARRIE WEISBECKER(Okeana/Ross) led Bluffton offensively with a homerun in the contest. Junior pitcher SARAH BETTS (Bryan/Bryan) picked up the loss on the mound as she allowed three hits and struck out seven batters.

The second game went much better for the Beavers as they scored two runs in the first inning. Bluffton was able to score two more runs in the top of the sixth and hold on defensively by only allowing Anderson to score one run in the bottom of the seventh for the final of 4-1. Senior ALLISON LANGE (Archbold/Archbold) went 2-for-3 in the contest with two RBI's. Senior MANDY SNIDER (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) posted one hit and two runs for the Beavers. Earning the victory on the mound was freshman TONYA DEAN (Kettering/Fairmont) who allowed four hits and walked one batter.

Bluffton will be back in action tomorrow, May 1, as they face Franklin College at 1 p.m.
