BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior SARAH BETTS (Bryan/Bryan) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 23, 2006.

Betts was 4-0 last week for the Beavers as Bluffton improved to 14-17 overall and 7-3 in the conference. The senior pitcher posted a 0.25 earned run average in four appearances by allowing just one earned run in 28 innings of work. She struck out 27 and walked just five in four complete games. She held her opponents to a .176 batting average and allowed just 19 hits in sweeps of conference foes Manchester and Franklin. Betts is 10-8 overall with a 1.67 earned run average and 160 strikeouts this season.

The Beavers return to action on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, when they travel to Defiance to face the Yellow Jackets in a Heartland Conference showdown. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
