BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University freshman KATIE AMMONS (Findlay, Ohio/Findlay) finished 9-of-20 (.450) over the past week for the Beavers and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week for the week ending April 1. The centerfielder scored three runs, knocked in three and stole three bases in six games.

In the Beavers' 12-7 loss to Ohio Northern on Thursday, March 29, Ammons finished 4-of-4 with three RBI's and one run scored. She followed that performance by going 4-of-6 at the plate in a double-header with Rose-Hulman on Saturday. She currently leads Bluffton in hits (12), while ranking second in batting average (.364). Bluffton stands 1-1 in Heartland Conference play and 5-5 overall.

The Beavers return to action on Thursday, April 5, 2007, when they host Denison at 3 p.m.
