The Beavers started off strong with three runs in the first inning after Hanover scored its only run in the first on a homer to left field. To open the game for the Beavers, sophomore TORRIE WILSON (Delphos/Jefferson) walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by CHELSIE OSBORNE (Chillicothe/Waverly). JAYME MARBAUGH (Ohio City/Parkway) drove in Wilson with a double down the left line. LINDSEY MILLER (Wapakoneta) followed with an RBI single to left field and she advanced to second on a fielding error. Miller went to third on a passed ball and later scored on a throw to first after a strikeout.

 

In the third inning Osborne singled through the left side and then stole second before a groundout moved her to third. She crossed the plate on an error by the first baseman.

 

Miller's single through the left side scored Osborne and KELLIE KENNEY'S (Toledo/Emmanuel Baptist) base hit plated both Marbaugh and pinch runner ALLISON WHITE (Lima) for a 7-1 lead.

 

To finish the game in the sixth Wilson singled to center. She then stole second base and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Marbaugh plated the run by doubling to left center before Lindsey Miller ended the game with her single to right center.

 

Miller led the Beavers with four hits and three RBI. Wilson, Marbaugh, and BROOKE BABCOCK (Findlay) all finished with two hits, while Marbaugh and Kenney added two RBI apiece.

 

Brooke Babcock added another win to her total, moving her record up to 14-5 after allowing only four hits and one run while striking out six. KRISTIN AGAUAS (Bloomfield, Michigan) came on in the sixth inning, striking out two batters and keeping the Panthers at bay.

 

BLUFFTON 10, HANOVER 5

 

The Beavers finished off the day with a second win over Hanover, 10-5. The game started slow for both teams but then picked up in the second with two runs for Hanover and four for Bluffton. Hanover then added one in both the third and fourth, while the Beavers added six in the fourth. Hanover made the final score 10-5 with a run in the sixth.

 

To start off the scoring for Hanover in the second, BLAKLI NADING homered to left center and then NATALIE FANSHER scored an unearned run after she doubled to the gap in left center.

 

Bluffton had a strong second inning, starting with a single to left by Miller. Pinch runner ALLISON RADOMSKI (Fairfield/Cincinnati Christian) advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Babcock double to right field. Pinch runner DANIELLE SHORTSLE (Alma, Michigan) advanced to third on a passed ball. EMILY MANAHAN (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) then reached first on a fielding error by the pitcher, putting runners on the corners. Shortsle scored on a failed pick off attempt by the catcher that went into left field, while Manahan advanced to second. TIFFANY BUCKMASTER (Lima) was safe at first after a passed ball on a strikeout and she advanced to second while Manahan moved to third. Manahan crossed the plate on another passed ball and Buckmaster advanced to third. Wilson then drove in the final run of the inning with a single to right field.

 

Hanover continued to work in the third and fourth with a run in each inning. The Beavers came back after a slow third to score six in the fourth. Wilson drove in the first run of the inning after back to back singles by Buckmaster and pinch hitter JESSICA MCDONALD (Mechanicsburg). Osborne plated MEAGAN PRICE (Toledo/Springfield) by reaching on a fielding error. Marbaugh knocked in the next run on sacrifice bunt. Miller continued her onslaught by adding two more runs with a double to right center. Babcock made it 10-4 with her RBI single to right field.

 

Following a one-two-three inning by both Bluffton and Hanover, the Panthers added another run in the sixth with a double to left center. After a quick inning at the plate for the Beavers, they ended the game with another one-two-three frame in the seventh to finish the sweep.

 

Miller again led the Beavers in hitting with another 4-of-4 game, finishing the day a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate and driving in another two RBI for five on the day. Wilson and Babcock each tallied three hits and two RBI for the game.

 

Kellie Kenney allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out six in 3.1 innings. Kristin Agauas (4-1) recorded the win after coming in during the fourth inning. Agauas finished the contest giving up one run on one hit and walking one, and she fanned seven of the 13 batters she faced.

 

Bluffton will return to action on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. against Transylvania in a home doubleheader to determine who will host the upcoming Heartland Conference tournament. The Beavers need a sweep for the outright regular season championship and to host the tournament next weekend.
