KISSIMMEE, Florida - An 8-0 shutout at the hands of Thomas More only momentarily slowed the Beavers who recovered for a 6-4 win over Walsh. The Beavers improved to 6-2 while Walsh slipped to 4-3.

Bluffton struggled in all facets of the game as Thomas More held the Beavers to a CHELSIE OSBORNE (Chillicothe/Waverly) infield single in the Saints' 8-0 six-inning shutout on Friday, March 11, 2011. Seven errors and 11 Thomas More safeties added up to Bluffton's second loss of the season.

Thomas More scored three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth before the Beavers could record the second out of the inning. The Saints improved to 3-4 with their six-inning mercy-rule victory.

KAYLA OWENS (Cincinnati/McAuley) slipped to 1-1 after allowing five runs, just one earned, on four hits in four innings of work.

The freshmen at the bottom of Bluffton's lineup came up huge with two hits apiece in the Beavers' 6-4 win over Walsh. The Cavaliers used three hits and a walk to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Freshman CHRISTINA HREHOR (Austintown/Cardinal Mooney) plated PAIGE GERDEMAN(Columbus Grove) with a double to the wall in center field an inning later. A leadoff home run by KENDRA GERBER made the score 2-1 midway through the third frame. 

Following a Walsh run in the top of the sixth, Paige Gerdeman singled home SHELBY ERFORD(Paulding) following her two-bagger to right center. A four-run sixth put the Beavers up by a 6-3 count heading to the final inning.

EMILY MANAHAN (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) led off the frame with a double over the center fielder's head. Pinch runner Chelsie Osborne moved to third on a passed ball before MEAGAN PRICE (Toledo/Springfield) walked and stole second. Gerdeman's infield hit plated Osborne and Hrehor continued her onslaught with a two-run double to right center. NATALIE NIKITAS (Jeffersonville, Ind.) picked up Hrehor with a base hit.

Walsh put up a run in the seventh but KRISTIN AGAUAS (Bloomfield Hills/Andover) finished off the Cavaliers for her third victory of the season. She gave up four runs on 11 hits in seven innings of work. Agauas fanned three and walked three in her first complete game of the year.

Freshmen Erford, Gerdeman, Hrehor and Nikitas all went 2-of-3 in the victory. Gerdeman scored twice and drove in two runs, while Hrehor finished with three RBI.

Bluffton takes on Beloit College from Wisconsin this afternoon at the Fortune Road Complex. The contest on Field 1 is slated for 5 p.m.
