Patton and Robertson named Players of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University freshmen MEGAN PATTON (Waynesfield/Perry) and LINDSAY ROBERTSON (Cincinnati/Northwest) were both named Players of the Week by the Heartland Conference for the week ending March 11, 2012.

Patton finished the week 2-1 on the mound for the Beavers and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The freshman posted a sparkling 1.26 earned run average in seven appearances at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida, fanning 28 batters in 33.1 innings of work. She held her opponents to a .168 batting average. Patton tossed two complete games and was perfect in her five innings against Beloit, retiring all 15 batters she faced.

Robertson led the Beaver offense during a 12-game Florida trip and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week. The freshman finished the week 14-of-33 (.424) with seven runs scored, four doubles, a triple, five RBI, and two stolen bases. Robertson had a slugging percentage of .606 to lead the Beavers during the week. 

Bluffton (7-5, 0-0 HCAC) will travel to Adrian at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday before welcoming Alma for the 2012 home opener on Friday, March 16.
