CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bluffton University softball team took the field for day three of THE Spring Games on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. The Beavers struggled at the plate, falling to Bridgewater (6-2) in game one and 1-0 to Muskingum in game two.

Bluffton got on the board first in the top half of the second when Riley Langstaff (Findlay) singled through the right side, sending Caylin Morstadt (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) and Megan Hill (Arcadia) across the dish for an early 2-0 advantage. Unfortunately, that would be the only Bluffton scoring for the day as Bridgewater answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame. The Eagles scored three more runs in the fifth en route to the 6-2 victory over the Beavers.

Grace Fillinger (Hinckley/Highland) got the start for Bluffton in game one, going four innings. She gave up four runs on five hits and issued five free passes in the loss, falling to 1-2 on the season. Molly Bollinger (Lima/Shawnee) came on in relief and tossed two innings, giving up two runs on three hits with three walks.

Langstaff drove in both Bluffton runs as the Beavers were limited to five hits in game one.

Bluffton could not get things going in game two and finished on the wrong end of a no-hitter from Hannah Duff who allowed just one baserunner, a walk to Erin Norman (Pleasant Hill/Newton). Norman was again outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete game. The freshman allowed just one unearned run on nine hits while fanning four. Her record fell to 2-1 despite sporting a perfect 0.00 earned run average through three games and 17.0 innings this season.

Bluffton will be back in action on Thursday, March 5, at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. when the Beavers take on Widener and Houghton after a day off on Wednesday.
