November 18, 2000

Bluffton College took home a third place finish in the Wilmington College Tip-off Tournament thanks to a 78-74 victory over Albion College Saturday night. BC is now 1-1 on the season and will travel to Cedarville College on Tuesday for a 5:30 matchup with the Yellow Jackets.

Four BC players hit in double figures and four other players scored at least six points while the defense forced 28 Albion turnovers and racked up a 43-37 rebounding advantage. Bluffton took a 30-24 lead into the lockerroom at halftime and went up by 14 points with 6:57 left in the game.

Albion, however, went on a 22-10 run at that point to close the gap to just two points four different times in the final minute of play, but Kristy Crall hit five of six foul shots in the final minute and Amy Aschemeier sank two free tosses with one second remaining to seal the verdict for the Beavers.

Crall played all 40 minutes of the contest and scored a game-high 20 points and added six steals and four assists. Accounting for 10 points each were Bree Wood, Elizabeth Snavely and Amy Aschemeier, while Jennifer Treat nailed two 3-pointers and ended the game with eight points.
