A 30-33 performance at the free throw line by the Defiance College Yellow Jackets helped do in a visiting Bluffton College women's basketball squad Saturday afternoon as Bluffton fell at Defiance 80-62. 

Bluffton out-rebounded Defiance 42-36 but committed 28 turnovers as BC sees their record fall to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference. Defiance is now 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.

Kristin Helvey (Toledo/Central Catholic) led Bluffton with 17 points, while Jen Bear (Grover Hill/Lincolnview) netted 14 points and collected a game-high 10 rebounds. Elizabeth Snavely (Defiance) chipped in 12 points.

Defiance's Lea Barrera scored 39 points and hit all 15 of her free throw attempts. She rang up 12 steals and grabbed nine rebounds.
