February 14, 2001

Bluffton College overcame a 12-point second half deficit to earn an impressive 58-56 Heartland Conference win on the road Wednesday night at Anderson University. The win clinches a first round home game for the Beavers next Tuesday night as the HCAC tournament gets underway at 7:00 p.m.

Bluffton improves to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in the HCAC. BC will travel to Franklin College for a 2:00 contest on Saturday that will mark the final game of the regular season.

Bluffton led 29-27 at halftime, but a 16-4 AU run to start the second half propelled the host Raven squad to a 12-point lead with 11:44 left in the game. Bluffton caught fire, however, scoring the game's next 11 points and took the lead for good with 5:06 remaining.

Jen Bear led Bluffton with 17 points as the Beavers tied a season low with just ten turnovers in the game. Kristin Helvey collected nine points and four assists, while Elizabeth Snavely chipped in eight points.

Anderson's Christy Clodfelder scored a game-high 22 points.
