Hanover too much for Beavers to handle in 77-52 loss

December 1, 2001

Bluffton College improved their shooting percentage nearly 10% from the first half to the second half, but Hanover controlled the boards and shot 81% from the free throw line to take a 77-52 win over the Beavers Saturday afternoon in Founders Hall.

Hanover improves to 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Bluffton falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC.

A 9-0 run by Bluffton gave the Beavers a five-point lead early in the game and four straight points by junior Lyndsey Robinson tied the game at 13-13 with 11:42 left in the first half. A 12-0 Panther run before halftime, however, produced an 18 point lead for the visitors and Bluffton didn't threaten again.

Junior Michelle Ray led Bluffton with 13 points, while sophomore Karen Harris added 11 points. Junior Melissa James collected 10 points and led BC with four assists and eight rebounds.

Bluffton will travel to Adrian College on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 and WDOH 107.1 FM will broadcast the game.
