Otterbein rides second half stride to knock off Bluffton 75-57

December 17, 2001

Bluffton College made six of their first 10 shots from the field and trailed by just one point with eight minutes left in the first half, but a visiting Otterbein College was too strong in the second half and handed the Beavers a 75-57 defeat Monday night in Founders Hall.

A quick start led to a 12-9 BC lead after five minutes had gone by in the game, but the Cardinals went on a 9-0 run to take a six point lead and didn't trail for the rest of the game.

Bluffton falls to 0-9 overall, while Otterbein improves to 4-4.

BC junior Michelle Ray led the Beavers in scoring for the second straight game with 12 points. She netted 19 on Saturday against Mount St. Joseph. Sophomore Karen Harris added nine points and a team-high five assists.

Bluffton will return to action on Friday at another Ohio Athletic Conference member as the Beavers travel to undefeated Wilmington College.

Bluffton shot a season-high 87.5% from the free throw line in the game and swiped a season-high 14 steals, but the Cardinals forced 29 BC turnovers and held a 46-36 rebounding edge.
