Yellow Jackets defense holds Bluffton to season low in points in 77-42 win

A visiting Defiance College squad held Bluffton College to a 28.6% shooting effort from the floor and a season-low 42 points in taking a 77-42 win over the Beavers Wednesday night in Founders Hall.

The Yellow Jackets keep position among the front runners in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 5-2 mark in the HCAC. Defiance, the defending league champions, is now 13-3 overall, while Bluffton falls to 0-16 overall and 0-7 in the HCAC.

BC junior Lyndsey Robinson collected game-high honors with 16 points and eight rebounds, while junior Michelle Ray added 11 points and seven boards.

Defiance jumped out to a 22-6 lead after seven minutes had gone by in the first half and extended that lead to 19 points with a 41-22 lead at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets then opened the second half with a 27-5 to put the game away.

Bluffton tied a season-low with just 16 turnovers, while forcing Defiance into 18 give-aways.

Bluffton will travel to Hanover College on Saturday for a 1:00 game, which will be broadcast on 107.1 FM WDOH.
