Bluffton College lost to the Heartland Conference leading Transylvania University Pioneers 83-49 Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky. The Beavers held a 14-13 lead with 9:37 left in the first half but were unable to maintain it despite shooting nearly six percent better than the Pioneers in the first half.

Bluffton falls to 2-20 overall and 1-12 in the Heartland Conference. Transylvania improves to 19-3 overall and 10-2 in the HCAC.

Bluffton shot 36.7% from the floor and 66.7% from the free throw line against Transylvania, who attempted 33 three-pointers in the game to mark the most attempts from 3-point range that BC has seen yet this season.

Senior Lyndsey Robinson led Bluffton with 15 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 shooting from the free throw line. Robinson also pulled down 11 rebounds to collect the 11th double-double of her career. Bluffton leading scorer Melissa James was held to six points in the game but was the next-highest scorer.

Three Transy players scored in double-figures, led by 15 points from Katie Boaz.

Bluffton will take on Heartland Conference rival Defiance this Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Founders Hall and will then travel to Thomas More next Saturday to finish up regular season play. The first round of the Heartland Conference tournament is slated for February 25.
