Heidelberg too much for Bluffton in 68-56 defeat

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball team (1-4) was defeated 68-56 by Heidelberg College (2-1) on Saturday night in their 2004 home opener.

The Beavers found themselves down by as many as 14 points in the first half before they regained momentum late in the half. Heidelberg would lead the game by only one point, 25-24 at halftime. In the second half Bluffton gave the Berg a run as the game stayed within five points until the five minute mark when Heidelberg took the game, 68-56.

Bluffton was led by freshman ASHLEIGH STALLKAMP (Paulding/Paulding) with 22 points and eight rebounds for the game. Sophomore TANYA RICKENBERG (Defiance/Paulding) was the only other Beaver in double digits with 12 points and a team high seven assists. Junior KARIN SCHALLER (Jenera/Arlington) had a great game knocking opponents shots down as she posted eight blocks and was second on the team in rebounding with seven.

Bluffton University will be back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Lake Erie. Tip off for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
