BLUFFTON, Ohio - Freshman ASHLEIGH STALLKAMP (Paulding, Ohio/Paulding) was named the Heartland Conference's women's basketball player-of-the-week for the week ending Dec. 5.

To date Stallkamp has led the Beavers in scoring in five of their seven games on the season. The forward led Bluffton in their 80-40 win over Lake Erie College with 17 points and eight steals. In the 75-49 win over Marygrove College, Stallkamp posted a team high 15 points, six steals and four assists. The Beavers (3-4) have now posted the most wins in a season since the 2000-01 campaign.

"I've been really happy with Ashleigh's play. We threw her right into the mix and she has stepped up and gave us some great scoring," head coach Amanda Curtis said. "The team together has played excellent basketball the past two games and it is good to see Ashleigh get some recognition this early on in her career."

For the season Stallkamp averages 14.7 points per game, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals. She currently ranks ninth in the Heartland Conference in scoring per game.

Bluffton University will be back in action this Thursday, Dec. 9, at Capital University. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
