#5 Capital cruises to 76-51 win over Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball team (3-5) was defeated 76-51 by the No. 5 Capital University Crusaders (7-0) on Dec. 9.

Two freshmen posted career high games to lead the Beavers in scoring. Amanda Bell (Napoleon/Liberty-Center) led the team with 12 points and Kelly Metzger (Bluffton/Bluffton) ended the evening with 10. Junior Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) led the team with five rebounds and two blocks. Freshman Ashleigh Stallkamp (Paulding/Paulding) led both squads with five steals.

Bluffton tied the game at ten early on in the first period but found the Crusaders go on a 20-4 run to make the score 30-14 with five minutes left in the half. At halftime the score was Capital 41, Bluffton 21. The Beavers fought back in the second period but could not overcome the 20-point halftime deficit as they fell to Capital 76-51.

For the contest Bluffton committed 29 turnovers to Capital's 18. The Crusaders grabbed down 42 rebounds (18 offensive, 24 defensive) compared to Bluffton's 30 rebounds (8 offensive, 22 defensive).

Bluffton University will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 20, when they host Thomas More. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
