Bluffton falls to Maple Leafs 68-45

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball (3-7) team lost to Goshen College (8-10) 68-45 on Dec. 29.

Coming out of the gate strong Bluffton kept the score close in the first half as Goshen's lead did not exceed ten points until the 13 minute mark of the first half.  At halftime the score was Goshen 40, Bluffton 23. Battling back and forth through the remainder of the contest the Beavers could not overcome the tough Goshen team.

For the game Bluffton shot 29 percent compared to Goshen's 53 percent. Bluffton won the battle of the boards with 47 rebounds to Goshen's 37.

Leading Bluffton on the afternoon was sophomore TANYA RICKENBERG (Paulding/Paulding). Rickenberg posted a season-high 16 points, three rebounds and one steal.  Freshman ANGIE LEE (Mr. Blanchard/Value) rounded out the double digit scoring for the Beavers with 10 points and added three steals.  Junior KARIN SCHALLER (Jenera/Arlington) pulled down nine rebounds and added two assists to the Bluffton effort.

The Beavers will be back in action on Thursday as they host Adrian College, start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
