Bluffton falls to Anderson 74-57

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team (4-13, 1-5 HCAC) was defeated 74-57 by Anderson University (2-15, 2-4 HCAC) on Jan. 22. 

Leading the Beavers on the afternoon was sophomore Tanya Rickenberg (Paulding/Paulding) with 23 points and five assists.  Freshman Angie Lee (Mt. Blanchard/Vanlue) scored a career high 11 points and pulled down a team high five rebounds.  Freshman Ashleigh Stallkamp (Paulding/Paulding) rounded out double digit scoring with ten points. Junior Karin Schaller(Jenera/Arlington) knocked down three blocks.

The first half saw the Beavers push Anderson's lead to one point before the Ravens would go on a 16-5 scoring run to take a twelve point lead into the half, 41-29. Bluffton would challenge the Ravens lead in the second period by pulling within nine points at the twelve minute twenty-six second mark.  Key rebounds and good shooting would propel Anderson to a 74-57 Heartland Conference victory. 

Both teams shot 43 percent in the game. Anderson went 25-of-57 from the field with Bluffton sinking 21-of-48 buckets. The Ravens led in rebounding with 43 boards to Bluffton's 26 rebounds.

The Beavers will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 26, as they host HCAC rival Defiance College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall.
