Lions cruise to 85-52 win over Beavers

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball team (4-18, 1-10 HCAC) was defeated 85-52 by Mount St. Joseph (12-10, 6-5 HCAC) on Feb. 9

Freshman ASHLEIGH STALLKAMP (Paulding/Paulding) led Bluffton with 12 points on the night. Freshman ANGIE LEE (Mt. Blanchard/Vanlue) posted 11 points to tie her career-high and end the double figure scoring for the Beavers. Freshman LINDSAY BUSH (Howard/East Knox) threw in nine points and a team high six rebounds.

Bluffton played hard in the first period as the game was actually tied 15-15 with eleven and a half minutes left before halftime. The 15-15 tie was the fifth time that the contest had been tied in the first half alone. After the eleven minute mark, the Lions began to dominate in the game as they went on a 14-2 run to take the lead 29-17. Mount St. Joseph led the contest 51-30 at halftime.

The game did not get much better for Bluffton in the second half as they shot only 26 percent (7-of-21) to the Mount's 38 percent (15-of-29). Bluffton committed 14 of their 25 turnovers in the second period alone. Mount St. Joseph converted 24 points off of Beaver turnovers in the contest. The final outcome would be Mount St. Joseph 85, Bluffton 52.

The Lions pulled down 47 boards to Bluffton's 36 rebounds in the game. For the contest Mount St. Joseph shot 46 percent (35-of-75) to Bluffton's 34 percent (19-of-55).

The Beavers will be back at home on Saturday, Feb. 12 for their final home game of the 2004-05 campaign against Anderson University. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
