Anderson hands Bluffton 67-58 loss

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball team (4-19, 1-11 HCAC) was defeated 67-58 by Anderson University (4-19, 4-8 HCAC) on Feb 12.

Leading the Beavers on the afternoon was freshman ASHLEIGH STALLKAMP (Paulding/Paulding) with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals.  Sophomore TANYA RICKENBERG (Paulding/Paulding) posted 11 points and three rebounds.  Senior CARA YOUNG (Middletown/Madison) pulled down a team high seven boards. 

Bluffton came out strong as they led the game by as many as eight points in the first half.  The Ravens propelled themselves back into the game as they hit a three pointer to tie the game at 31 all heading into halftime.  The Beavers started the second period by making key shots to lead by one point (40-39) at the fourteen minute mark.  Anderson then went on a 16-8 run to take control of the game and lead, 57-48.  Shots by both Stallkamp and Rickenberg trimmed the Ravens lead to five points (57-52) with seven minutes left to play.  Rebounds by Anderson and missed shots by Bluffton allowed AU to control the remainder of the game as the Ravens won the contest 58-67.

Bluffton committed 13 turnovers for the game as the Ravens gave the ball away 16 times. Bluffton shot 36 percent (20-of-55) to Anderson's 44 percent (22-of-44). Anderson led in rebounding with 48 boards compared to Bluffton's 34 rebounds.

The Beavers will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 16, as they travel to HCAC rival Defiance College for a 7:30 tip off.
